inside the mind of a three year old

I sometimes think I should've been a shrink because I love learning about different people and what makes them tick. It's so fascinating that we are all so different and have our own opinions, thoughts, and ways of life. But have you ever wondered what goes on inside the minds of young children?

My little guy is three and I'm amazed by so many things he does. But I'm often pondering over what must've been going on in his head. Today he left me quite puzzled. I shall explain.

We were doing a little painting today so I did my usual set up for him. A newspaper to protect the rug and to catch drips and spills. A disposable plate with blobs of his fav colors. A couple of brushes and lots of paper. After clean-up time, we left the plate of remaining paint on the counter (in case we decided to do this again five mins later which can often happen with a little one, you know, constantly changing minds). So an hour later my little guy grabs this plate and heads for the bathroom area. I didn't think much as he often times pulls up his stool, turns on the water and cleans the plate (I'm amazed at how well he does this without making a huge mess). So after about 2 mins of not hearing the water turn on, I know he's up to something. I go to the bathroom and find him painting his potty chair! Trying to be a mother I explain that we don't usually paint potty chairs, but the artisit in me admired his abstract brush strokes. And then I wondered perhaps this could be a new Etsy item; hand painted potty chairs painted by a 3 year old. Hmmmm. ;-)

Gotta love kids!

P.S. I say he's three, but in his defense he still has another month until his birthday. ;-)
