thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite times of year. Sadly, I've missed out on the delicious turkey dinners and family gatherings since I moved away. I decided last year that I'd like to make a Thanksgiving dinner here each year so that I can share this American tradition with my hubby and especially my little guy. However, this year that plan didn't work out because I have no kitchen right now with the remodeling in full swing. Bummer.

I always get a little homesick this time of year. My Mom makes the BEST Thanksgiving dinner. I also love hanging out with family and playing games together. I've made a promise to myself to make it home to the US for a Thanksgiving visit within the next couple of years.

Even though I'm missing out on turkey, I still have A LOT to be thankful for. Here are ten of those things...
  1. Family...because they truly love and accept me for who I am...I'm thankful for all of them!
  2. Hubby...I can't imagine life without him.
  3. Little guy...thankful for his health, his mind, his imagination, his humor and I'm very thankful that he was born so healthy despite everything.
  4. My in-laws...I'm very thankful that I've been accepted and loved by hubby's family.
  5. Friends...no matter where you go in life, you need some good friends for support.
  6. Health...something we take for granted until we no longer have it.
  7. Life...having this time to spend with loved ones, learning as much as possible, and doing good deeds.
  8. Comfortable Living...I'm thankful that we have a nice home to live in, food to eat, water to drink and shower with, clothes to wear, toys to play with, computers to work with...so many people go without, I never want to take these things for granted.
  9. My mind...I'm thankful for my education, for my open mind to learn about others and be inspired by them, for being able to see the glass half full, for setting goals and going after dreams, for never giving up with out a fight, for believing in myself and others, for knowing that despite all the bad there's even more good out there.
  10. God...creator of all things, knower of all things, blessing us with blessings, helping us when we're in need, bestowing endless mercy.

To all of you...Happy Thanksgiving!!! Please eat some turkey for me! ;-)

P.S. If you don't do turkey, green bean casserole is a great side dish...;-)
