awesome teaching moments

Teaching has been an extremely rewarding opportunity for me. As much as I gripe about the administration, there is nothing like the feeling of seeing your students grow before your very eyes. Towards the end of every year, I look at my students and feel so proud of them.

They have all grown in amazing ways, and knowing that I helped them to do that is amazing.

This week I've had several teaching moments where I just wanted to gather up my whole class and give them a huge HUG! I love the moments when you see that they "get it". I also feel so happy that I found a way to help them to "get it".

Today, we started a new reading story and my entire class read the book so fluently. I gave them major props when they finished and they were so proud of themselves they all clapped. It was an awesome moment. Reading is not easy when teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). And it's even more challenging to teach English to Arabic speakers. Arabic has a completely different alphabet with different characters and it's read from right to left. It's not easy for students to train themselves to read "backwards" and to learn an entirely different alphabet. So whenever they success in reading I'm super happy for them!

This week had been a great teaching week!!! :)
