new phone

Cell phones are a big deal here. Having the lastest model seems to be very important to the majority of people. I personally don't feel the need to rush out and get the lastest cell phone (referred to as "mobile" here). I am able to keep my cell phones for 2-3 years. I then go out, take a look at the newest models, and choose one that I feel will work for me. I don't care about popularity or cost, I care about practicality. Here in Saudi, we buy SIM cards through the phone company and then we are free to buy whatever cell phone we like.

I'm a Nokia girl. When I moved to Saudi I got a Nokia and have been hooked every since. So recently, the time had come to buy a new phone. I always ask for hubby's help on this matter (I need it). I was trying to decide between the new IPhone or the Nokia N8. Here is what I chose...

I got the Nokia N8 in blue. I really love the features and I've only begun playing around with all the cool applications. But one thing that I find difficult is the touch screen. So far I have called people by accident, responded to the wrong text message (causing my friend to respond with a "???!!!"), opened applications that I didn't intend to open, and have hung up on people (my hubby to be exact...lol).

However, with all that being said, I'm hoping that I just need a little time to get used to the touch screen and all will be well. I know some people who love it and some people who hate it. It's too early for me to decide just yet. But considering I like my phones to last more than a few short months, I hope I at least like it.

Do you know of any pointers you can share about this phone?
