When living away from home there will always be those special foods and treats that one will miss. Living in the Middle East, there is a wide variety of foods, some special to the region and some that remind me of home. But there are many foods from home that are just not available here, and I miss them sometimes. So when it gets close to travel time I begin to remember all of those foods that I have missed. Here are my current five...
I love this yogurt. It's so light and fluffy, just as the label says...lol. Strawberry is my fav flavor.

I LOVE cheese! And string cheese is an easy way to eat it. This is usually the brand I buy when I'm home.

With all the bread products here in Saudi, I can't believe they haven't caught onto the bagel. Tortillas just recently became a hit so maybe the bagel will follow. I love plain bagels with flavored cream cheese, and I also love flavored bagels with plain cream cheese. Blueberry, Strawberry, and Onion bagels are some of my favs.

Pierogies are soooo yummy! I buy Mrs. T's frozen pierogies (potato and onion are tasty). I saute some sliced onions, add the pierogies (frozen, straight from the box), add some salt and pepper, and stir and flip until fully cooked. I like mine to be slightly crunchy around the edges. This can be a side dish or one of those "snacks" for when you're hungry but don't want to eat a big meal. I just love them!

Mmmmm. Tastykakes are so yummy. There are a million and one different kinds of sweets in Saudi. But we do not have tastykakes here. :( Boy, are people missing out. I like the creme filled (shown above) but I also like the tandy cakes, with peanut butter. On second thought, it's probably good that these are not available here. I would be a lot bigger if they were...lol.

What foods do you love from your area, wherever that may be? :)

I too always miss the Butterscotch Krimpets and Gardner's PB meltaways. And we also end up taking a case or two of DelGrosso's Spaghetti sauce home with us to IN.
