Is it just me or are we running out of animals, vegetables, and leafy greens to get viruses from. We had to watch our spinach, green onions, and tomatoes. We had mad cow, bird flu, and now swine flu. I mean sometimes it just seems a little suspicious to me that there's always something to be worried about.
Anyway, I've seen all the headlines and stories about swine flu. Remember though that I'm living in Saudi Arabia so we didn't have any cases at first. But I guess that has changed. We've had cases of people who travel outside the country and return with swine flu. I personally do not know of anyone, this is all here say. So some people have asked me, "Aren't you afraid of traveling to America with the whole swine flu thing?". And I'm like, "No. No one that I personally know in the US has it nor do they know anyone who does.". But then my little mind starts thinking and playing games and I wonder, should I be concerned? I have no intention of cancelling my trip, but are there things that I should be doing as we travel to protect us from getting sick. Remember that I have a little guy who will turn 3 during our trip. Should we be wearing those face masks like back in the SARS days (we can add that to our list of illnesses while we're at it)?
And while I'm on the subject, how come animals don't get the swine flu? Have we heard of cats coming down with it? Or better yet, why do all these come from animals that we eat. I mean maybe there's a leopard flu that we just don't know about because we don't eat leopards. I know that you don't have to eat the animal to get it, but still. I'm so crazy about all this that I'm no longer making any sense. So with that I'm going to get some sleep. But if anyone could kindly give me advice about the current animal flu, please share!

My advice- don't worry. All it is, is the regular flu with some snazzy name. People keep getting in an uproar that people are dying from it. Ironically, MORE people die every year just from regular colds and flus.
ReplyDeleteThe swine flu cracks us up at work. I like the leopard flu...which sounds kinda cool!
