- work...the thing that seems to give me the most headaches. Work has been kicking my butt this year. In addition to teaching 2nd grade Language, I'm teaching Science to 3 sections of 2nd grade and four sections of 4th grade. Teaching Science in 2nd grade is easy. But 4th grade is something new for me. I am honestly learning a lot myself. But teaching 4th graders about invertebrates and complete metamorphosis in their second language is not easy. The information and vocabulary is intense. But for whatever reason my 4th graders sit, listen, ask questions, and are getting it. I wanna hug each and every one of them for being such awesome students! I wish I could say the say for the admin....but I shall not bore you with all that. ;-)
- little guy...he is doing great in school! I'm loving his first year of school. He was "Star of the Week" a week ago and we had a small party for his class. I did an activity with the children, brought some yummy food, and gave them all gift/goodie bags. He's learning new things and that makes me super happy. He even has homework a few times a week. I actually like this. I like him learning the concept of homework from an early age (don't worry, it's not too much or too difficult).
- our house...our house is CRAZY right now. Remember how I blogged about remodeling? Well, we are in full swing. My little guy's bathroom is almost complete, just a few finishing touches and the downstairs is half way done. In order to remodel our first floor, we had to clear everything out by bringing some of it upstairs and storing the rest in my in-laws' basement. We are literally living in our upstairs. I converted our extra bedroom into a small living room with a small "kitchenette" area (coffee maker, microwave, etc.). We brought up a bookcase and placed it in our bedroom to store our dry foods. And we purchased a mini fridge for our cold items. It's crazy! I did get to pick out paint colors yesterday, can't wait to see them. (just a little side note: we hired people to do all the remodeling, and painting...cement walls require extra work and people who know what they're doing)
- more work...I know I already mentioned work but in addition to all the things at work, I have a ton of things to do here at home for work. I have a lot of upcoming projects too. I never really knew or appreciated all that my teachers must have done. As students we think our teachers are unfair for assigning so much homework and so many assignments. But just remember that you have only your assignment to do, your teacher has to grade not only your assignments but also all of your classmates' assignments too. And if they're a subject teacher like me that means a lot of classes to grade. For example, I teach Science to a total of 7 classes that average 25 students each. If you do the math...that's A LOT of Science books, homework, and quizzes to check.
On some more positive notes, I am on a 2 week vacation. We have an Islamic holiday coming up (which I will blog about in the coming days). I know we started back to school late here in Saudi but I sure needed this time off work. Hubby and I have also started talks about our summer vacation plans. This is always exciting talk for me as I love going to the US and seeing my family. Little guy has been requesting to go to America a lot lately. He thinks we can just hop on a plane any time, any day, and go. Oh, if only it were that easy...:-)
Well, I hope I haven't bored you all. I just wanted to play catch up. I also hope to blog more during my two weeks off work. I have so many things to blog about. But for now, goodnight! ;-)
