I've been back in the US for almost 2 weeks already. I can't believe how fast time flies by. I remember counting down the days to vacation. Vacation came and went in a flash. A very busy, fun-filled flash that is. We stayed so busy during the one month we had in the US that there are things I didn't get to do, and people I didn't get to see (as much as I had hoped). Our main goal this trip was for little guy to have a very fun time, and I do believe we succeeded with that.
When we arrived in DC, hubby was feeling rested enough to make the 3 hour drive to PA, to my family's house. It worked out rather well, because that night my big sister and nephew arrived. They had come to spend the weekend with us. So in trying to keep up with our goals, I suggested going to the movies the next day, our first full day in the US.
Now, this was a very special occasion. This was little guy's very first movie! We don't have movie theaters here in Riyadh. And although we have DVD's out the you-know-what, nothing beats sitting in the theater with a big bag of buttery popcorn. And as fate would have it, none other than Toy Story 3 was playing! Yay! We are big Toy Story fans, so it was the best possible movie for little guy's first time.
So off we went; hubby, little guy, and me, my sister and nephew, and my mom (aka: Grandma). It was truly a family affair...lol. Little guy was WONDERFUL! He loved it so much that he fell asleep in the car afterwards and slept til morning (we were all tired out, still recovering from the flight...lol). When he woke up the next day he wanted to go back and watch it again. It was obviously a hit in his book! :)
It was also a hit with me. I think it takes true talent to make a #2, let alone a #3 for any movie, but they managed to pull it off. And as I was warned, it does get a little mushy at the end. And yes, I cried. But it was a bittersweet cry, I guess. Without giving away the ending to anyone who hasn't seen it, it just made me think how one day my little guy will grow up into a big guy. Life goes so fast, I want to savor every moment with him, in every phase.
When little guy and I were reading his new Toy Story 3 book, I told him how it's a little sad. I explained that one day he'll grow up and go away to college. And you know what that sweet little boy said to me? "But, I'll come back and love you up!"....now that was precious. I love that little guy!!!
