ikea chandelier

Houses and home decor can get pretty extravagant here in Saudi. But hubby and I prefer a more laid back style. I believe that if your cushions and pillows have so many beads on them that it hurts your back to sit against them, then it's just too much. ;)

With our remodeling still in full swing, I'm always thinking about how I will set everything up and decorate once it's finished. I'm pretty excited about having a real dining room table and dining area. I have this vision of a lighting fixture such as a pendant or chandelier hanging above the table.

I spotted this chandelier a few months ago in my Ikea catalogue:
While I think many chandeliers are beautiful I've never had the desire to adorn my home with them (too much for my smaller home and maintaining them is not fun). But, then I saw this from Ikea and thought it could be the perfect compromise. It's elegant but in a simplified way. It's not too much, it's just enough. And guess what? It's only $39.99. Wow!
I'm seriously considering it. And I know myself, when I'm able to select something this quickly and be this happy with it, nothing else will do. So I'm now thinking of what I'd put on the table underneath it.
Let's see.....;-)

  1. will it be bright enough for a dining room with only 3 lights what watt are the bulbs usually those little bulbs are only like 15 watts i think which will only give you like 45 watts of light you may need to go a little bigger. i think those are just like accent chandeliers to go over a side table or hang over a desk or a bedroom accent lighting. just thought i would throw my 2 cents in...i might be wrong!!! salamz sister

  2. I will look into that. But it may still work because we'll have about 4-6 small ceiling lights(not sure of the actual name of them) in the room. We'll see. ;)
