This is what I have to check EVERY week at work:
2 Language Books per student x 52 students = 104 Language Books
1 Science Book per student x 25 average students per class x 7 classes of Science = 175 Science Books
Average of four extra homework papers per week (a combo of Language, Reading, and Spelling) x 52 students = 208 homework sheets
1 Spelling notebook x 52 students = 52 Spelling notebooks
ditto on the English Writing Notebooks
1 Spelling Quiz per student x 52 students = 52 Spelling quizzes
1 Language Quiz every two weeks x 52 students = 52 Language quizzes
ditto on the Reading quizzes
plus additional classwork such as worksheets, activites, etc.
And we haven't even started our Phonics Review/Writing/Reading booklet that I had made for my 52 students...Oh wait! I got a new student this week, so that's now 53 students!
Whew! No wonder I feel so overwelmed this year. No wonder there are days that my desk looks a little something like this (but with more piles):
It's not just me, right? These are insane numbers. Especially taking into account that that doesn't include my actual teaching periods, lesson plans, preparing/making all those darn worksheets and quizzes, plus report cards four times a year, plus weekly plans that have to handed out to students each week, plus a lot of other stuff I won't even bore you with.
Gosh, I never appreciated my teachers as much as I do this school year!
