The past week little guy and I have been on Spring Break. Well, actually it's our mid-term break. Here in Saudi we have no in-service days or three day weekends. So because our religious holidays fell in the 1st semester, our 2nd semester would be 18 weeks straight of class, with no breaks. I'm very happy that the gov't sees this as too long and gave us a week off in the middle of 2nd term.
Little guy has been keeping busy. He has lots of fun things to do around here. He has so much fun that twice this week when I went out shopping he refused to come along. He preferred to stay home and play...go figure. He's lucky we have a housekeeper who can watch him if need be.
Little guy is quite the artist. He loves cutting, gluing, painting, playing with play-doh, drawing, and some coloring. He does this everyday. On any given day I can expect to see this on my coffee table:
I keep a supply of colored paper, different kinds of scissors, glue, colored pencils, crayons, tape, and rulers. He uses them all. He also has an art easel for painting, white board markers, and chalk (it's double sided). I also bought him a set of collage craft items like colored Popsicle sticks, fuzzy balls, etc. Isn't it fun to glue and make things? His favorite thing is to draw pictures on a colored piece of paper, cut them out, and then glue them onto a bigger piece of paper. Here are his cut outs:
Among all of little guy's favorite things to do, the most favorite is Thomas the Train. He plays with this everyday, several times a day! I've gotten quite skilled at designing different track set-ups....lol...little guy is quite good himself.
Whenever we go to the mall, I take him into the toy store and he gets to pick a new train for his collection.
And for anyone who may be interested, I find all wooden track sets to fit into each other. So if you want to save some money, you can buy the other brands and Thomas should fit. We have the toy store brand and Ikea brand tracks with actual Thomas trains.
Good old Thomas. Thanks for keeping little guy busy. ;)
