I found this pretty image here. "Ramadan Mubarak" means Happy Ramadan.
Ramadan comes according to the Islamic calendar, which is a lunar one. And every year it shifts about 1-2 weeks. This year it began on August 1st. When I first became Muslim, eleven years ago, Ramadan was in the winter. And each year as it shifted, it fell into a warmer season. Muslims will be fasting from sunrise to sunset for one month a year during the summer for the next few years. And that makes fasting a bit more challenging. Drinking lots of water and eating healthy foods during non-fasting hours is essential.
As a pregnant Mama I can be excused from fasting and make it up later, after baby comes. However, fasting is very easy here in Saudi because people tend to sleep much of the day and are up all night. The life of an owl. ;) So, I decided to try it for one day and see how I felt. And so far, I'm fine. I stay up until sunrise, sleep all day, and wake up just a couple of hours before sunset. Thank God for my housekeeper who prepares all the food. She's a HUGE help! Note to self: She needs a Ramadan bonus at the end of the month.
If you'd like to know more about Ramadan, I wrote a post about it here. I also wrote another post here about the last ten days of Ramadan and why they are special.
Happy Ramadan! :)

How does that work for people who have to work during the day and can't sleep through most of the fasting hours? And does Little Guy do it too? Congratulations on baby #2!! I was just wondering the other day when I was reading one of your other blogs when/if there would be another baby in your house.
